Having being rebranded in March 2009, the Desert Challenge went through an extreme transformation which was supported by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and auspices of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE. Maintaining its organizational role in 2011, the Desert Challenge will run across the entirety of the emirate, across the Rub Al Khali Empty Quarter, the Moreeb area and Liwa Desert.
Having migrated towards the major desert areas, the majority of the 2011 route will take the drivers into a level of difficulty, only experienced in the environs of the barren land. Inviting a range of participants from around the world, those who are avid enthusiasts and ardent racers of motorbikes, four wheels, trucks and quad bikes will battle amongst each other in a series of stages.
The Desert Challenge will take place from the 31st March to 7th April 2011. As a main part of the challenge, competitors will have to go through a long process of documentation and scrutiny where the organizers will decide the order of the lineup.
