A Sanctuary of Pleasure for Orphans

Creating a home for orphaned elephants the sanctuary was established in 1989, inside the beautiful Karua Wildlife Reserve. The place is under the management of the Malaysian Department of Wildlife and National Parks. The Lanchang area is popular for its elephant population within the Malaysian Peninsula and is a treat for not just wildlife enthusiast but also lovers of nature.

Rehabilitation and Relocation Services for Elephants

Due to increase in agriculture and farmlands elephants seem to have smaller spaces to call home and feeding grounds. As scarcity of food increased the mammals were forced to enter the plantations and even nearby villages. As the animals are high on the endangered species list locals have been advised to report the wandering elephants to the Wildlife and National Parks Department instead of causing harm to the animals. Through dedication and hard work the Kuala Gandah sanctuary has successfully relocated over 400 elephants back into the wilderness. Although the place is now a major tourist attraction the services offered are invaluable.
