The city of Mackay, on the eastern coast of Queensland Australia, is a popular coastal town known for its sugar exports and mining. However due to its picturesque views, and proximity to Brisbane, the tourism industry is steadily being developed in Mackay. Hotels in the area are being opened to cater to this increase in tourists and are in turn encouraging tourists to visit the area.

One of the more popular areas of Mackay is the Mackay Marina, located next to the Mackay Harbor. While the Marina has around 500 berths, the residential village surrounding it is even more impressive. With luxury apartments and hotels, all with a breathtaking view of the marina, it is no wonder the Mackay Marina Village is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination in Queensland. Hotels such as the Oaks Rivermarque also provide visitors with a large swimming pool, spa and gym.

The Mackay Marina Village has a number of attractions, apart from the view, and these are sure to keep you occupied during your stay. The Bluewater Trail is a 20km walkway and bikeway, which links a number of Mackay attractions. The trail begins at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens which contain a large variety of rare plants, native to the Central Queensland area. The Bluewater Trail also passes the Bluewater Lagoon, in the heart of Mackay, which is a family-friendly area that looks out at the Pioneer River.

River Street is another tourist hotspot, as after its recent renovation, it is now home to a number of cafés, a breathtaking viewing platform and it even has a weekend market. The City Centre also houses a number of boutiques, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Regardless of the nature of your visit, Mackay has something to keep you busy.
