Qingdao Zhongshan Park, a tranquil oasis

Qingdao’s Zhongshan Park is a well-known recreational park with a history of more than a century. There are in fact many parks in the nation of China which are named after Sun Zhongshan, as Sun Yat-Sen was formerly known in the local language. Zhongshan Park in Qingdao is noted for its historical legacy and beauty, making it a delightful recreational area for both local residents and visitors from abroad.

Perhaps the best time to visit the park is in the springtime, when the yearly Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival takes place. This much anticipated festival occurs at around the date of May Day and lasts for around 3 weeks. The well known Sakura Road which is lined by a host of lovely cherry trees becomes a spectacular pink-hued expanse in May, when the cherry blossoms come into bloom. As you walk along this lane at this time of year you will seemingly be transported into a storybook world of beauty and delight. To make the park even more attractive the other flowers such as forsythia, tulips and the native wintersweet also come into bloom at this time.

A number of distinctive gardens may be found within the expansive park. In the much loved Peach Garden you will find a myriad of the picturesque peach trees, which promise peach blossoms and the delicious fruits in the autumn. Meanwhile in the Peony Garden the visitor will see peonies of every shape and colour. In China this flower is greatly admired, symbolizing peace, prosperity and happiness. On the other hand in the Osmanthus Garden the visitor will encounter an expanse of the purple coloured wisteria blossoms.

Another attraction is the Sun-Wen Lotus Pond, which symbolizes the amity and friendship between the people of Japan and China. On the other hand the youngsters will enjoy the appealing amusement park which features a number of rides and games. Other attractions on offer include the attractive Qingdao Zoo and the breathtaking cable cars which will take you on a scenic journey.

Travellers desiring a comfortable Qingdao hotel will be pleased by the Copthorne Hotel Qingdao. This convenient hotel in Qingdao offers well-appointed interiors and courteous hospitality to make your stay in the city all the more enjoyable.
