The city of Brisbane is the capital of Queensland in Australia. Home to over two million people, the city is one of the most highly populated in the country. While the first settlement in Queensland was a penal colony at Redcliffe, it has developed into a thriving state and Brisbane itself has hosted the 1982 Commonwealth Games, the 2001 Goodwill Games as well as the G-20 Summit in 2014. Running through the city is the longest river in South East Queensland, the Brisbane River, prior to its meeting of Moreton Bay. The Central Business District of the city lies on the curve of the River and is commonly considered the Riverside District of Brisbane which is a mere minute away from Oaks Lexicon apartments.
