Malaysia’s largest aquarium is located on the south of PantaiCenang, a well visited beach that is home to a number of resorts and 5 star hotels on Langkawi Island. Visitors searching for a suitable accommodation in Langkawi would find that numerous hotels similar to The Datai Langkawi provide a much needed respite.

The Underwater World attracts tourists and locals to its wonderful 6 acre world. Underwater World houses more than 4,000 species of marine animals, which includes 500 species of fish and other sea creatures. The sheer magnitude of this large aquarium is amplified at the entrance itself, where the largest freshwater fish known as Araipamas swims around in its tank to greet visitors.

Underwater World is divided into three sections, each with its own set of animals which are native to the temperatures its set in Tropical Rainforest, Temperate and Sub Antarctic. The Sub Antarctic section is home to a few penguins known as rockhopper and black footed penguins. The main feature of the Underwater World is a six million litre tunnel tank, where a casual stroll through the tunnel is a great way to spot the many species of fish that reside in the aquarium. The aquarium holds sharks, giant stingrays and turtles; all of who cohabitate in an almost ocean like atmosphere.

The Rainforest section is home to many animals and birds one would typically find in the lush rainforests of South America or other similar countries. Visitors will come across colourful birds, animals and fish. This section is home to flamingos, snapping turtles, knife-fish and monkeys! The birds and animals are kept in an open space enclosure which resembles their natural habitat.

The Temperate section of the aquarium is complete with adorable fur seals. These furry mammals are made to perform in front of the cheering crowds.
The aquarium also holds an Educational Resource Centre, a cafeteria and a 3D theatre. Guests can also purchase souvenirs from the souvenir shops.
