Specifications and Location of the Falls

The waterfall is measured to fall from a height of 23 metres. It is found in the Athwelthota area which belongs to the Kalutara District. Kalutara located in the south of Sri Lanka is serviced by the Kalu Ganga –river; it is one of the country’s main waterways and it is from the town of Kalutara the river flows to the sea.

Getting to Kabaragoi Falls

Most tourists making the journey to the waterfall are located at resort Bentota the most popular tourist resort on the iconic southern coast of the island. Bentota is just 19kms from Kalutara and home to a range of beach resorts which like AVANI Bentota Resort & Spa offer tours to popular attractions in the nearby towns. On reaching Athwelthota you must head towards Kalawana; after 4kms you will come to the Ahas Bokkuwa Bridge. From the bridge it is a half a kilometre trek to the falls.

Ahas Bokkuwa Bridge

An additional treat to you culture buffs the Ahas Bokkuwa Bridge is a piece of history. It was built in the 1900 during the First World War and may have some fascinating facades to observe. On reaching the bridge you will need to follow a footpath upstream. This ends at the foot of the falls and continuing to follow the path and taking the first right turn you can make your way to the top of the falls; a treat indeed.
