Bannerghatta Biological Park was uplifted to national level in 1974. The park’s butterfly enclosure was open ceremoniously in 2006 by a government minister. It entered history as India’s first such enclosure. The enclosure consists of a conservatory and a museum along with audiovisual facilities. The whole enclosure occupies about 7.5 acres offering shelter to more than 20 butterfly species.
