The Bannerghatta National Park, also known as the Bannerghatta Biological Park, is a park located in the Indian state of Karnataka. Established in 1974, the national park is fairly large in size, spanning an area of over one hundred square kilometres. The park is situated approximately twenty kilometres outside of Bangalore, so those visiting India’s ‘Garden City’ should think of taking a trip down to the wildlife park. It takes less than two hours to reach the park, which is an ideal spot for a day excursion.

Much of the park area is covered in dense forestry and scrub land. Many large carnivores make their homes here and one may be able to spot leopards, lions and tigers here. Also present here are bison and wild boars. Reptile lovers will enjoy visiting the crocodile farm and the serpentarium, which is home to all sorts of colourful snakes. Those who want to avoid the park’s slithery inhabitants may choose to visit the butterfly park instead. The butterfly park was opened in 2006 and houses around twenty varieties of butterflies. The park is open everyday except Tuesdays. One has to pay an admission fee to enter and this fee is higher on holidays.
