Built in 1898 the Castle green is one of Pasadena’s most distinctive buildings. Originally built as an annex to the renowned Hotel green, this building is a seven story heaven built by Col. George Green. Opened as the 2nd one of three buildings to the Hotel Green complex, it contained Moorish, Victorian and other architectural elements.

Domes, Arches , Balconies and detailed wood work are part of the steel and brick structure that makes up this architectural wonder. It’s also renowned as Pasadena’s first fire proof building. An ornate bridge crossing the Raymond Avenue connects the building to the hotel complex on the east side. Exterior lights beautifully illuminate the cylindrical towers and most of the roof. A penthouse garden with a glass roof was part of the original design.

It’s early popularity as Pasadena’s social center made it a favourite spot among visiting politicians , presidents and other dignitaries. The ownership has taken many turns in the past and today remains as 50 individually owned suites. Though the original Hotel Green resort has disappeared with time the Castel green continues to fascinate its visitors. With an ongoing restoration programme that has not affected its early magnificence.

The interior of the building has remained unchanged with beautiful furniture from the 1800s still in place along with inviting fireplaces and historic wicker and plants. Mosaic floors and marble staircases are breathtakingly beautiful and add to the old world charm of the complex.
