The Submarine Museum
Monument Kapal Selam (Monkasel) is a Submarine Museum located close to Surabaya’s Centre on the banks of the Kalismas River. It is home to the KRI Pasopati – a submarine formerly owned by the Russians and then bought by the Indonesian Navy in 1962, utilized and retired. It was used in the campaign to oust the Dutch from irian Jaya. The submarine is in good condition and is 76 meters large. There is also a small film and a documentary film regarding the history of the museum.

The Surabaya Zoo
The Surabaya Zoo boasts of many species and has animal shows where you can see bears riding bikes and pelicans dancing. Birds can be fed with Peanuts bought at the entrance to the zoo. Camel carriage rides are available as well as horse rides. A food court provides adequate and varied food.

The House of Sampoerna and the Heritage Track
The House of Sampoerna is an old Dutch Building now converted into a cigarette factory with a museum attached. The museum showcases Sampoerna’s history. From the upper floor you can watch the cigarettes being manufactured on the factory floor below. From here you can take the Surabaya Heritage Track Tour – a free tour around old Surabaya.
