As you step out of Kula Lumpur International Airport, your eyes might not meet with what they expected to see. Instead of looming skyscrapers and streets bustling with metropolitan life, you would meet with a relative calm. A small city that is pleasing to the eye, but not the city life you had in mind. This is Sepang. A newcomer to the scene of metropolitan, Sepang was an area of palm oil plantations for generations. But with the building of Kula Lumpur International Airport in 2000 and the erection of Sepang International Circuit, this small town was forced into the limelight, and now welcomes almost all the visitors to Malaysia.

In terms of activities, there may not be an overwhelming list of things to do in Sepang. Yet, this new city holds its stand amidst giants with the Sepang International Circuit where you can take a ride in one of the Formula One cars around the 5km circuit. During the periods of major motorsport events, Sepang bustles with life as locals and foreigners alike flock here to witness Malaysian Motor Cycle Grand Prix or Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix. Motorsports enthusiasts believe the Sepang circuit to be one of a kind with its tight twists and straights where riders can achieve break-neck speed and overtake the competitors as the track is also one of the widest circuits in Formula One. Moving away from the motorised modernisation, Sepang also offers the chance to relax amidst mangroves in a mangrove fishing expedition, an activity that is located only half an hour away from the Circuit. Visitors to Sepang can then proceed towards the coast, where popular options such as AVANI Sepang Goldcoast Resort are waiting to serve a bite or a bed for the weary traveller.

Sepang may be small in size and young in its age. But it indeed has a welcoming air to it that makes the visitor develop a soft spot for this growing city.
