Named as the third largest island in the world, Borneo consists of three main countries, namely: Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia. Different instruments used for hunting and day to day work, animal traps, proof of lifestyles, hunting methods and handicrafts of diverse ethnicities of Sarawak can be found in the first floor of the museum. Mother Nature has a beauty of her own kind spread among the many nations of the world. Her natural gift to Sarawak can be found in the ground floor of the museum. Specimens of Fauna, mammals, fish, birds and reptiles are beautifully prepared and are exhibited here showcasing the biodiversity of Sarawak. Longhouses, the safe havens of the tribal people of Sarawak could hold up to 100 individual families in different compartments under one roof. Though the designs and the materials used to build the houses have changed over the years a typical tribal home also called as Longhouse can be witnessed at the Sarawak Museum.
