Situated in Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium can be found near Jinmao Tower and Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Known for being one of the world’s largest ocean aquariums, this attraction in Pudong District boasts the largest submarine viewing tunnel in the world, with a length of 155 metres. In addition to the main building, the aquarium has two pyramid-shaped buildings. There are also a restaurant, gift shop and a large exhibition space.

Among the exhibits which visitors can observe are over 300 aquatic species including leafy sea dragons, moonfish, jellyfish and poison dart frogs. The sight of adorable emperor penguins is sure to capture your attention.
At present this is said to be the world’s only aquarium featuring a China Zone which exhibits the Yangtze Valley’s ecology in addition to aquatic organisms and some of China’s endangered marine species. Making the experience even more memorable, the aquarium demonstrates the culture and geography of their native places, using audio samples, pictures and more. A special tour offered by the aquarium covers the world’s four oceans and five continents.
The scenic education room and VIP hall are located on the third floor which consists of a total of seven exhibition areas. Deep Ocean Zone can be found at the basement and after completing your tour through the long viewing tunnel, you can head over to the gift shop at the first floor, to purchase some souvenirs to take back home.
