Set amidst idyllic coastal beauty, the island of Koh Lanta in Thailand is the perfect place for a holiday and here are some things to do to make a getaway more rewarding.

Beach-hopping

Sun-kissed shores and magical sunsets abound here including the lovely Koh Kwang Beach near properties like the SHA Extra+ certified Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort. Long Beach or Phra Ae Beach is close by and is also worth a visit as are the Klong Nin and Bamboo beaches which also offer divine backdrops to soak up the sun and take in the views.

Kayaking in a Mangrove Forest

Kayaking can be enjoyed at the Thung Yee Peng Mangrove Forest and is a great activity for nature lovers at Koh Lanta-based resorts in Krabi. It’s the perfect way to see the island’s biodiversity and get in a great cardio workout too! On your escapades, keep watch to spot wildlife such as monkeys, fiddler crabs and birds including sea eagles.

Explore Koh Lanta Old Town

To experience some local culture, head to the Koh Lanta Old Town found on the island’s eastern side, home to many Thai-Chinese families. As you wander around this laidback locale, you will come across charming wooden houses near the sea, a Chinese shrine and opportunities to enjoy overwater dining and culinary discoveries as well.

Swim to the Emerald Cave

Take a boat trip from Koh Lanta to Koh Mook, where one of the most unique things to do awaits. Here, you can swim for around 80 metres during low tide through a dark sea cave; your efforts will be rewarded when you reach a hidden lagoon and secluded beach! True to its name the waters are emerald and provide an enchanting paradise-like setting.
