The Dazu rock carvings are a five cluster carvings situated in the steep hill sides of Dazu near Chongqing dating back to the 9th to 13th centauries. There are more than 10 000 carvings that can be found here with many displaying religious beliefs of the time period, historic figures , events and inscriptions. The carvings were mainly centered around Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism and display harmony among them. The carvings are a declared a world heritage site by the UNESCO.
