There were two things listed in our Bali itinerary, one was to never leave the country without a proper Balinese reflexology and the other to explore the mesmerizing town of Ubud (on foot). The advantage of having a travel partner who has the same interests as you is the best thing a ardent traveller can ask for. So it was decided that we will spend our holiday discovering and appreciating the great outdoors.

We booked COMO Shambhala for our accommodation in Ubud. It is one of the top spa resorts in Bali and one of the best we’ve stayed in. There are plenty of ways to relax and be healthy at this resort. Since both of us prefer to maintain balanced diets and avoid overeating during our frequent travels this was an ideal place for us. There was a resident yoga teacher, Ayurvedic doctor and dietician whom we can get advice and assistance. You also find a state-of-the art gym here so if you prefer some fast paced exercise that is your best option. However, we decided to kill two birds with one stone by going on long treks that helped us to remain healthy and discover this mesmerizing little town at the same time. Walks in Ubud were simply perfect and there is no better way to truly experience this culturally solid town other than on foot.

The early morning walks were the best. To see the finest parts of Ubud you must take an off the beaten path. We walked through the villages, passing beautifully constructed historical temples and when needed took a break to talk with the locals who were very friendly. There are countless wonderful trails in Ubud and the walk amongst the rice paddy fields and in the deep jungle were the truly memorable ones for me. It was nature at its best with lush greenery everywhere you look.
