Ever wondered what the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world is? It is non other than the Windsor Castle located in the English country of Berkshire. Encapsulating 900 years of British history, the castle’s dramatic site includes a magnificent chapel apart from the royal palace itself. Known as the longest-occupied palace in Europe, it is home to over 500 people living and working in Windsor.

The stunning State Apartments in the castle are attractively furnished with some of the finest art works from the Royal collection that includes paintings by Rubens, Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Canaletto. An extensive parkland surrounds the beautiful castle whilst private apartments of George IV can be found inside the palace. These apartments which are among the most richly decorated interiors in the palace can be enjoyed by visitors from October to March. During the months of August and September the East Terrace, offering views of the castle’s East façade is open to visitors.
