Bird lovers from around the world fly down to the Bird Park in Malaysia to be around their feathered friends. The Bird Park in Kuala Lumpur is known to be one of the most diverse bird parks in South Asia that is known to promote an eco-friendly tourist destination. The Bird Park which covers an area of 20.9 acres is located in the Kuala Lumpur Lake Garden which is a swift ten minute drive from most hotels in Kuala Lumpur city, and about 5 kilometres away from hotels such as Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral.

Home to more than 3,000 birds of around 200 different species of foreign and local birds, the bird park is one of the more popular tourist attractions in the city. The park is divided in to four zones; Zone 1 and Zone 2 are known as the free-flight zone, Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 contains birds in cages and small aviaries. The most unique feature of Zones 1, 2 and 3 are that birds are allowed to live in their natural habitat, which also allows them to co-exist and breed freely in their environment. These aviaries in the bird park allow visitors to experience the wide spectrum of colourful birds in their natural habitat as they fly and sing never ending melodies. This concept of free flight is known to be one of the best ways to encourage birds to breed naturally as it resembles closely to their natural environment.

The park’s breeding programme that was established in 2002 encourages various birds to breed like the Emu which is native to Australia. With a total of 37 emus born to the former 6 parent birds, they are one of the most successful species to have been bred at the bird park. Along with the Emu, is the African Grey Parrot which has produced 14 offspring from just one pair of bird parents. The Yellow billed Stork and the Silver Pheasant are another successful bird bred species in the park.
