The biggest bird species in the world, ostriches are quite peculiar-looking creatures and at this site, you can get up close to them!

Where is It?

The Desaru Ostrich Farm can be found at Jalan Telok Ramunia in the Pengerang area of the Kota Tinggi district of Johor, Malaysia. Home to over 200 ostriches, this site is within a 30-minute drive from properties like Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas and is generally open from 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Key Highlights

While experienced guides will take you on a tour of this site in Desaru, attractions such as these truly stand out for the up-close encounters they offer. Here, you have the chance to stand right beside certain ostriches and get in some special selfies or feed them corn kernels; kids can even enjoy supervised ostrich rides!

Ostrich Hatchery

At the Desaru Ostrich Farm, there’s a hatchery where eggs are collected and placed to incubate. As you can imagine for such huge birds, the eggs are quite big and can weigh up to 1.5 kg; to hatch, they take around 40 to 60 days and depending on when you visit, you may see baby ostriches coming out of their shells.
