The Bali Safari and Marine Park showcases the rich biodiversity of the tiny Indonesian island. The park houses hundreds of animals representing over fifty different species, most of them endangered and rare. The animals actually come from all around the world although some animals at the park, such as the Sumatran tiger, the Komodo dragon and the Sumatran elephant, can only be found in the region. Parts of the large park have been designed to mirror the natural habitats of the animals housed there, so visitors can be forgiven if they think they are in the dense tropical forests of India or the dry savannahs of Africa.

Visitors get around the park by means of an air conditioned tram and the tour is conducted by an experienced guide. The tram lets people get up close and personal with the animals, and visitors should keep an eye out for the parks more reticent inhabitants. One can spot tigers, cheetahs, zebras and even a white rhino named Nelson. In addition to the animals there is also a marine park where one can witness a variety of fish.

Several shows, including a piranha feeding show and a traditional dance show, are held here on a daily basis. Show timings and other details are available on the park’s website. The park is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The easiest way to get there is to catch one of the private shuttle buses run by the park. The buses pick up and drop passengers at several different parts of the island.
