Federal Territory Day also known as Hari Wilayah Persekutuan is a state holiday in Malaysia. Celebrated on 1st February every year in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya, one must find lodging in a Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Introduced on 1st February 1974, the Federal Territory Agreement was signed on 28 January 1974 by the Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Sultan of Selangor, Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah of Kedah. In 1984 Labuan became the second federal territory while it was in 2001 that Putrajaya became the 3rd federal territory of Malaysia.This day is celebrated on February 1st every year in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, marking the anniversary of the creation of Kuala Lumpur.
