This unique cultural site first opened its doors to the public in November of 1974, and allows visitors an intimate glimpse into the ties of cultural friendship between France and Oman. Visit this site as part of a getaway in this fascinating city. And if you are seeking Oman hotels at which to base your stay, the Ruwi Hotel Muscat presents a fabulous option of a luxury hotel in Muscat with tasteful elegance and style.

The building housing the Muscat French Museum is swathed in history, dating back as it does to 1896. It was formerly a grand palace, and was presented by the Sultan to the French Consul at the time. Fast forward 96 years into the future, when in 1992, the sultan at the time came to a consensus with the French president to set up a museum within the palace in tribute to the friendly relations that have existed throughout the course of the two nations’ history. The enthralling collection at the museum includes intriguing photographs of some of the first French diplomats in Oman, French-Omani ships, documents of historical import, as well as vibrant French and Omani costumes and jewellery collections that scintillate with significance in the minds and eyes of those who behold these priceless cultural treasures.
