Phuket is famous for her beautiful natural landscapes consisting of pristine powdery beaches, lush jungles and general tropical exuberance. Many, however, tend to overlook Old Phuket Town.

Ranong Road

This is where you will find the Phuket City Market, which consists of two strikingly different areas. One is the main building, where the bus-stand is located, and the other is the open-air market situated across the street. This is the best place to purchase a wide range of things from meats and vegetables to souvenirs and electronics.

There are many interesting attractions to notice here such as ‘fountain circle’, but one of the truly fascinating places is the Kanom Jeen Shop, which has one of the most photo-worthy settings you can imagine. There’s also an interesting old pharmacy situated here that specialises in traditional medicine.

This is one of the best places to enjoy some delicious fare, ranging from street food to a range of Phuket specialities in restaurants such as Loktien Restaurant and Pirrera Cafe. If you’re staying at a Phuket resort in the island such as Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, definitely plan a trip to such areas in Old Phuket Town.

Thalang Road

Most of the nicest shops in Old Phuket Town are situated here, so prepare yourself to spend the most amount of time on Thalang Road.
