The Specifics

Scienceworks at the Science Museum in Melbourne is open from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. every day except for Good Friday and Christmas Day. It is completely free for kids up to the age of 15 and costs AU$ 15 per adult. The planetarium and/or lighting room costs AU$ 8 but it is only AU$ 6 if you are a museum member.

Hours of Fun

Situated in the Science Museum Melbourne and in close quarters of most of the major Melbourne hotel apartments, Scienceworks has a wide variety of science exhibits for kids to enjoy and educate themselves through. The Science Museum can keep kids engaged for hours on end. So, it’s the perfect place to take them if you want them out of the way for a while or if you just want to spend time with them.

There is an area in Scienceworks that caters for children up to 5 years old. The younger ones can learn about basic physics and involve themselves in educational activities.

One of the coolest parts of the museum is the planetarium complete with reclining chairs where you and your kids can sit down and watch the universe scroll by. There is also the lighting room which showcases 30-minute live performances that will teach you and your kids just how much is possible with electricity.
