Witness the colours of the great barrier reefs up-close and personal without heading out to the sea. Visit the Reef HQ with your family for a memorable time together! Read on to know why Reef HQ is a must.
Reef HQ is the largest living coral reef aquarium in the world. It was established in 1987 as a part of a reef conservation programme by the government which was headed by Dr Graeme Kelleher. The aim of the project was to conserve corals and celebrate them on land.
Why should you visit?
The Reef HQ not only houses corals, but it is also home to a number of reef inhabitants such as reef fish, crustaceans, turtles and predatory fish such as sharks. Visiting here with your family is an ideal option if you are looking to spend some quality time with your loved ones.
Attractions and events
To add more excitement to the visitors there are several attractions and events showcased here some of them are the mermaid show, quizzes, informative sessions and more. These events certainly add more value to the overall experience as you leave the aquarium educated about a fragile marine ecosystem and how to protect it.
The aquarium is located in the city of Townsville Australia. Hotels and accommodation options are pretty easy to find here and you also can reach Reef HQ easily if you plan your stay at an accommodation option the likes of Oaks Gateway Suites since it is located just a stroll away. You can also reach the Aquarium by a taxi from any part of the town.
