Malaysia is a country that truly has no shortage of natural beauty. From lush rainforests to sprawling beaches, Malaysia is a powerhouse of natural splendor. Despite all of her many wonders, the Langkawi Geopark is the site of Malaysia’s most unique natural wonders, having been recognized by UNESCO as being one of the world’s 64 geoparks. If you are wondering what the definition of a geopark is, a geo-park is outlined as an area of scientific importance due to geological reasons but also for its archeological, ecological, or cultural value. Basically, it means that as well as being somewhat of a geological heritage site, it also consists of conversational efforts, local community support and ecotourism. Geoparks are naturally protected areas but are made accessible to visitors but upholding a major implementation of sustainable development. The accommodation options in Langkawi are fairly plentiful, but one option that is truly noteworthy is The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa.

When it comes to attractions and sightseeing, Langkawi has three main offerings. One is the Machinchang Mountain range, composed of a series of sandstone mountains with a lone towering granite mountain at the centre. The tallest mountain range of the lot is the Gunung Raya, standing at eight hundred and eighty one metres. These mountains are special because they were the first part of South East Asia to rise out of the Sea-Bed over half a billion years ago.

Secondly we have the Kilim Geoforest Park to the north-east of Langkawi. This area of the park contains breath-taking mangrove rivers and limestone terrain. The area is also surrounded by pinnacles of an assortment of shapes, near vertical karstic hills and captivating caves formed out of years of erosion. The third attraction is the massive lake which sits in the second largest island of the archipelago. Formed when an enormous limestone collapsed, this lake and her surround areas contain some of the finest marble formations in the world.

If you’re looking for a vacation where nature meets nurture, then Langkawi is the place for you.
