Found along Malaysia’s north-western coast, Langkawi is a collection of 99 islands that boast a (largely) undisturbed natural landscape of majestic mountain ranges, lush vegetation and rainforests that is home to abundant wildlife. Bearing three UNESCO Geoparks, Langkawi is a must-visit eco-destination. Situated in Pulau Langkawi and mere minutes from The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa, Langkawi Wildlife Park is a refuge for animals and exotic birds.

Located near the Beach Resorts Langkawi, Langkawi Wildlife Park occupies an area of 5.5 acres that recreate the environs of a tropical rainforest that closely resemble the natural habitat of its resident animals and birds. Opened in November 2002 as Langkawi Bird Paradise, the Park was initially a bird park while subsequent additions of other animals rendered the Park to change its name to Langkawi Wildlife Park in 2006. Today, Langkawi Wildlife Park is home to 150 species of mammals and reptiles and 2,500 birds from 150 bird species from Malaysia and across the world.

Open throughout the week, Langkawi Wildlife Park’s canopied walkways guide visitors as they explore the Park and interact with the resident animals and birds. The Park’s first attraction is a host of colourful Macaws followed by the Flamingos and serene Mandarin Ducks that lead to the Crocodile and Pheasants sections where visitors can admire majestic peacocks before stepping into the Orchid Garden. Found beside Bear Cats, Rabbits and Raccoons in the Mammal section are a flock of friendly Budgerigars who enjoy hopping onto visitors’ hands for a snack. Enjoy a walk along the aviary and watch Mouse Deer at play before retreating to the Park’s Crystal Gallery where fine crafted crystals and jewellery from China and Brazil can be purchased. Walk past the 15-foot man-made waterfall towards the Park’s Reptile Corner and drop-in to see the regal Owls, Vultures and Eagles before being entertained by the monkeys in the Primate section. Visitors can end their memorable excursion by enjoying a meal at the on-site Brahminy Kite Cafe and shopping at the Park’s retail facility.
