Many assume Dubai to be a dry and arid place and it might come as a surprise that it has a well maintained 64 hectare urban park. Created to increase the greenery of the city and give residents and visitors a place to appreciate nature, the park was made in 1975. At its conception the park was situated in the outskirts but today it is a mere 3.5 kms from Burj Kahlifa. The development occurring in the city has spread and now skyscrapers are located a short distance away from the park.

Continuing to thrive, the area has 3 huge lakes that attract many birds. The current bird species count at the park stands at over 200 and plant and bush varieties come up to 16, 924. 80% of the area is covered with lush green lawns and a cascading waterfall mingles with the largest lake. There is also a small forest area and a hill, giving the area a diverse feel. A panoramic view of the landscape awaits those who climb atop the hill.

There is a sport & games arena for those who aren’t content with just sipping in the scenery. Boat rides are also arranged. The landscape can be entered from either of the 4 admission gates and is open every day from 8.00am to 10.00pm. Unlike other such landmarks, this enthralling escape does not have a ladies day or a family day. The entrance fee at Safa Park is 3 AED.

A walk through the park will require at least 4 hours and will be a good day’s outing. Other places you can visit include Burj Khalifa Towers, Dubai Mall, Gold 7 Spice Souks, Ski Dubai and Hatta Dunes. Situated within driving distance form all these places is the 115 room Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai. This is a popular 5 star hotel Dubai has to offer. This Dubai airport hotel is just 2 minutes away from the Dubai International Airport. The hotel been named as Middle East’s ‘Leading Airport Hotel’ at the World Travel Awards 2013 and the high standard of hospitality offered is evidence of why they won this award.
