Little shelled creatures paddling about in large concrete tanks is a common sight witnessed here by many an adoring tourist visiting the place. Eggs are often rescued and are hatched here and the hatchlings once old enough are released into the sea in large batches at a time. The variety of turtle species that can be seen here at a time is quite astonishing. A wide assortment of turtles can be seen here among which a few specimens of turtles endemic to the Sri Lankan waters can also be seen here.
