Much like the streets of the city of Monte Carlo, the grand prix hosting venue of Abu Dhabi is a jet black track with twists and turns that challenges the finest of racers and makes the jaws of audiences drop. The track is located on a manmade island just off the mainland from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. As the Middle East forges its way forward in all spheres in the international arena, the need for a race circuit was strongly felt. Save for the track in Bahrain, there were not many internationally acclaimed tracks for professional and would be racers.

In this light, the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island was inaugurated in late 2009 with a capacity to host over fifty thousand spectators along a trail that runs for over five kilometres seeing twenty one bends. From contests such as the Ferrari Racing Days Asia Pacific to FIA Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to drag racing, the track has been the stage for a number of fiercely competitive and record breaking events that have seen some of the stalwarts of the game such as Sebastian Vettel and Charles Pic steal the limelight.

The design and architecture of the site was handled by a New York based architectural company that incorporated a water park, hotels, a theme park and some residential property within the large piece of land that was allocated for the circuit. Some of the material used in the construction was imported from England to meet the necessary standards and specifications. The effort and money utilized for the construction was not in vain, as the Yas Marina Circuit became a hit amongst the racing population.

Though the circuit is located on a separate island, it is by no means estranged from any of the Abu Dhabi hotels. Getting about from an Abu Dhabi city hotel to watch a grand prix is a breeze, which entails a quick cruise down a highway. The ballots for accommodation from both the general public’s point of view and the racing enthusiast’s perspective are usually in favour of the Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi.
